Saanie Daara: Ghana Facing Selection Problems Against Canada

The Black Stars are in a stat of dilemma after lack of visas and injuries have delayed the official announcement of players to face Canada in USA friendly. The communication director of Ghana Football Association Ibrahim Saanie Daara has revealed that coach Avram Grant is not sure of the squad to use against Canada in a friendly match scheduled for October 13 in USA, following injury and visa issues. Reports in the local media indicate that Ghanaians are unhappy with the delay in unveiling the squad. It's true the list has delayed but we are facing some challenges, Saanie Darra told Citi-FM. Some of the players are facing difficulties in obtaining US visas. Just yesterday, about three of the players went for their visas and where told to come back the next day so we will have to wait and see how it comes out. Also, there have been injuries to some of the players at the last minute which is also an issue we are looking at. The list will be out very soon but we just have to make sure that all these issues are sorted out, he added. Goal understands that injuries have ruled out skipper Asamoah Gyan, Bournemouth midfielder Christian Atsu and Rabui Mohammed of Kuban Krasnodar but Phil Ofosu-Ayeh, who plays for Bundesliga II side Eintracht Braunschweig, has been handed a surprise call up. Swansea City star Andre Ayew is expected to lead the team in the absence of Gyan. Goal can also confirm that the local contingent which consists of assistant coach Maxwell Konadu and his backroom staff as well as goalkeeper Fatau Dauda will fly out of the country on Wednesday evening to join Grant who is already in the USA.
