A 22-year-old driver’s mate has been jailed by an Atebubu Magistrate Court for stealing a spectacle and GHȼ 320 belonging to his master.
The presiding judge, His Lordship Joseph Hamidu Nasigri sentenced the suspect, Kwadwo Yaaya to 10 months in jail for the offence. Presenting the facts to the case, the prosecutor Chief Inspector Isshak Nyarko said the complainant Sulemana Tahiru, a resident of Seneso near Atebubu lodged a complaint about his missing spectacle and an amount of GHȼ 320.
He said when Kwadwo Yaaya was quizzed about the missing items by his master, he denied knowledge of it and pleaded innocence.
But Chief Inspector Nyarko noted that investigation by the police revealed that the suspect stole the money which was the sales for the day when his master was fast asleep in his car.
“The spectacle was found on the mate but when they asked him about the money he told them that he had used GHȼ 100” he added. The prosecutor said the suspect pleaded guilty to the offence after being caught red handed.
Kwadwo Yaaya after his sentence also apologised to his master for his conduct.
