Yohannes Teye, a 25-year–old unemployed, has appeared before the Odumase Krobo Circuit Court for intentionally and unlawfully causing damage to a shed valued at GH¢250.00 belonging to Alice Buer.
He, however, pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of GH¢10,000 with two sureties to be justified.
The prosecutor, Chief Inspector John Akutteh, told the court, presided over by Mr Frank Gbeddy, that the complainant, Alice Buer, 71, is a chop bar operator, while Teye is unemployed and they both resided at Osuwem near Asutsuare.
The prosecutor said Teye had complained several times of smoke in his room due to the complainant’s activities.
He said on September 9, 2015, Teye went to Alice’s work place and pulled down the structure.
C/Inspector Akutteh said when Teye was confronted; he admitted damaging the shed because it was creating a lot of inconveniences for him.
Prosecution said on September 10, 2015, Alice reported to the Asutsuare Police leading to the arrest of the accused.
In his caution statement, he admitted to the offence.
In a related development,Teye again appeared before the same court and was charged with assault.
He again pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of GH¢8,000.00 with a surety.
The facts of the case as presented by C/Inspector Akutteh were that, the complainant, Martha Boduwa resides at Osuwem and is related to the accused.
He said about a month ago,Teye had information that Martha was practising prostitution in the Osuwem community.
He said Martha was confronted but she denied the allegation.
The prosecutor said later Teye returned from a journey and found condoms on his bed.
C/Inspector Akutteh said Teye then confronted Martha but she denied any knowledge of it.
He said that brought about some exchange of words between the two and they were later separated.
Prosecution said on July 27, 2015, Martha went to dry her clothes in the family house where Teye lives but immediately he spotted Martha and without any provocation, he pounced on her and subjected her to severe beatings till she was rescued by onlookers.
He said thereafter, Teye went into hiding.
A complaint was lodged at the Asutsuare Police Station and Teye was later traced to his hideout and was arrested.
