Businessman calls on IGP to probe Wenchi Divisional police command Mr Agyei, who is the National Agent of the STE Evame SARL Company limited, Togo-based international company entreated the police to set up independent committee to investigate the matter.

He told Newsmen in Techiman that the company which deals in motorbikes and spare parts and had branches in Tamale, Ho, Techiman and Tema, imported about 500 motorbikes into the country in 2012.

Mr Agyei explained that the company through its General Manager, Mr Emile Meto contracted Messrs Jacob Agongo and Alhassan Issaku, Techiman-based motorbike dealers to sell the machines.

He said it was detected during a routine check that two local retailers had sold some of the machines and failed to account for them.

Mr Agyei said the company reported the matter to the Wenchi Divisional Police command which subsequently arrested and granted the suspects police enquiry bail.

He said the police led by C.I.D S.K Woturdzer however took inventory and seized 441 of the motorbikes which were left at the shops of the suspects.

Mr Agyei regretted that since then (2012), the police had failed to prosecute the suspects and also restore the machines to the company.

“We have gathered that the police have connived with the suspects, and sold all the machines”, he said alleging “we have gathered that the police is aiding the suspects to abscond”.

“This is why we are appealing to the IGP, the police council and even President John Dramani Mahama to as a matter of urgency compel the Wenchi divisional police command to facilitate the prosecution of the suspects and restore the motorbikes to the company”, Mr Agyei added.
Effort to get the police some reaction on this story proved unsuccessful.
