Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni proved that he is still very fit when he sprinted to the podium in a party delegates’ conference to give his speech.

The 71 year old president was cheered on by excited delegates as he happily ran onto the podium, perhaps exhibiting his physical fitness.

The ruling party of Uganda, the National Resistance Movement (NRM), had held a delegates conference where it announced its endorsement of long serving President Yoweri Museveni as its flag bearer for the 2016 general elections.

The party had announced Museveni as its unopposed candidate in next year’s elections after he became the only member to pick the nomination forms for the presidency and that of the NRM chairperson.

The endorsement was announced in Namboole on Sunday, where delegates from across the country held a party conference.

The announcement sparked jubilations from the delegates who all threw their weights behind the Ugandan leader who has been in power since 1986.
