Pressure Groups To Be Disbanded

The Eastern regional secretariat of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), will soon disband two Pro-NPP pressure groups, Movement for Joint Action (MJA) and Mass Action For Development for operating on the wheels of the party in the region without formal approval by the party.

The Daily Heritage has gathered that the leadership of the two groups has not been in good terms with the regional executives of the NPP as the party executives have accused the groups of attempting to usurp their powers to seek political favour from the rank and file of the party’s national executives.

The two pressure groups were formed by some core members of the NPP in the Eastern Region with the aim of resuscitating the party in the region and to mount pressure on the government since the regional executives have been in political hibernation creating free atmosphere for the governing National Democratic Congress to dominate the political environment in the region.

The melee between the two pressure groups and the Eastern regional executives of the NPP has entered its boiling point in which members of the groups are gradually being axed from the party which will subsequently lead to the disbandment.

The first casualty of the plan is Pharm Silas Agyekum, director of operations of MJA. He has been accused of being a mole in the NPP with close ties with the suspended chairman of the NPP, Paul Afoko, hence, recommended for suspension from the party as New Juaben South constituency treasurer of the NPP.

Sensing danger of humiliation, the treasurer on November 5, 2015 tendered in his resignation letter to the constituency executives.

Below is the resignation letter of the constituency Treasurer:

The Chairman, New Juaben South Constituency

Npp Koforidua

5th November, 2015.

  Dear Sir,

Resignation As The Constituency Treasurer

I wish to officially inform you and this noble house of my decision to resign as the constituency treasurer effective the 5th of November 2015. This decision has become necessary after careful consideration of the recent preposterous attempt by some constituency and regional executives of the party to tarnish my hard won reputation and integrity by raising series of unfounded allegations of me being an NDC and having the intent of staring divisiveness and confusion in the party in the Eastern region, on Emak Fm today, by the regional woman organizer, Alhaji Omar Bodinga and the constituency communication director, who was noted to have confirmed to one NDC communicator, a rumor that I was going to be suspended.

My current position as a treasurer has suffered unwarranted disregard and disrespect through unhealthy denigration from some key constituency and regional executives, who have always contended that I could easily be relief from my position because I was appointed.

In order to help put to rest this unhealthy development, and to safeguard the further denigration of my reputation and integrity, and in the spirit of oneness, I thought it worthwhile to remain as a dully committed member of the constituency and contribute in diverse ways to ensure both the constituency and the regional targets of agenda 70/30, and 80/20 are achieved.

I assure you all of my readiness to respond to the constituency calls for any assistance that will help Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo win power 2016. Am grateful to honorable MP and my great chairman and to you all for a wonderful time spent with you.
