Ghanaians In UK To Assist Families Of June 3rd Vicitms

On June 3rd 2015, Ghana was hit with flooding and fire explosion which resulted in the loss of human lives and destruction of several properties.

Majority of the victims who had sought shelter at the Goil filling station were on unable to make it home on that faithful day. To ease the pain of families who were affected by the disaster, an opera concert would be staged in the United Kingdom to help them with proceedings to be raked in.

A call has been made on all Ghanaians living in the UK, to unite and help victims by supporting a great cause; “A Night of Opera” at the historic St Mary’s Abbot Church on Kensington Church Street, London.

This will be taking place Friday 4th December 2015 at 7pm, with students from the Royal Academy of Music performing well known operatic scenes from “The Marriage of Figaro” and “Don Giovanni” with mixed Christmas themed solos.

The organizer Miss Catherine Vaughan-Williams explains “It’s a risky concept but a great way to introduce Opera to those who have never had the experience before. It is also an opportunity for us Ghaians living in the UK to gather as a community in order to show our on-going effort back in our home country and our proud heritage, whilst enjoying a night of great music and an inimitable atmosphere.
