Harmattan Prevents Vice-President From Flying To Farmers Day Ceremony

The Vice President, Mr K. B. Amissah-Arthur, was on Friday unable to join the national Farmers Day celebrations in Bolgatanga.

This was because the Ghana Air Force, which was scheduled to air lift the Vice President and his team, was unable to do so as a result of poor visibility.

Subsequently, the Vice President joined the Greater Accra Regional Farmers Day celebration at Kpone, near Tema.

The Farmers' Day was instituted by the Provisional National Defense Council(PNDC) government in 1985 in recognition of the vital role farmers and fishers played in the economy especially the highly commendable output of farmers and fishermen in 1984 during which Agriculture contributed to 30percent of the country's Gross Domestic Product(GDP).
