Tariff Increases: Ghanaians Are Not Angry Enough - Kwamena Duncan

Central Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwamena Duncan is disappointed with Ghanaians for failing to react to the utility tariffs increase.

Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Kwamena Duncan wondered why the people of Ghana have become docile towards the Mahama administration.

According to him, Ghanaians are not angry enough and until they release their fury on the government over its failures to develop the economy, the challenges confronting the economy will continue.

“I am wondering whether we shall emerge from this mess (this crisis) which is always pronounced on the good people of this country.”

Addressing the economic hardships coupled with perennial power cuts, Kwamena Duncan ascribed the causes to the cedi depreciation.

He noted that several Ghanaians find it difficult to make a living due to the decline in the cedi currency as against the US Dollar and other major trading currencies.

He therefore wants the government to take the necessary steps to boost confidence in Ghana's cedi so as to ease the pressures on Ghanaians.

To him, the tariff hikes will further compound the plight of the citizenry.
