Amenfi West By-Election: NDC Buying Votes To Maintain Seat John Boadu

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has given strong indications that they are winning the Amenfi West by-election on Tuesday despite the constituency being an NDC strong seat.

According to the party’s acting General Secretary, John Boadu – it is possible for the NPP to win the seat after describing the Mahama-led NDC government as a failure.

“We can win the election. Ghanaians are tired of this reckless NDC government,” he said in an interview on NEAT FM’s morning show 'Ghana Montie'.

On Tuesday, the people of Amenfi West will elect a new Member of Parliament (MP) following the sudden death of the sitting NDC MP, John Gyetuah, on October 13, 2015.

In all, four political parties, the NPP, the NDC, the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) and the United Freedom Party (UFP) are contesting the seat.

John Boadu however alleged that the NDC is “buying votes” to maintain the seat - “NDC is at its best using money and all forms that you can think of to win this by-election, but it is not too new to us, it’s much anticipated that a government that has lost touch with the people would want to do everything by inducement to kill the mandate of the people.

He was certain that the people of Amenfi West will vote for the NPP “in spite of all the machinations that are going on."

Uncle ‘JB’ as affectionately called in politics noted that - "the NPP winning the Amenfi West seat will be an indicator that the NDC will lose the 2016 national election."
