Support Government To Ensure Quality Education Retired Educationist

Mrs. Mary Arday-Kotei, a retired educationist, has urged Alumni Associations to move away from the general tendency to abandon their responsibilities to the government, expecting it to handle all the burdens.

"It is important to note as we mature as a nation that, democracy is a partnership between the government and the people and we must therefore share the burden of providing guidance and inspiration for the up and coming students and influence education policy as well as curriculum of our alma mater".

Mrs, Arday-Kotei who is an old student of the Winneba Senior High School, made the call at the 66th Speech and Prize-Giving Day held at the school in Winneba, under the theme: " Quality Education for National Development: The Role of Stakeholders."

According to Mrs. Arday-Kotei, Alumni must provide moral support and financial assistance to foster change and development, and champion the establishment of mentoring relationships with students to motivate and inspire them to reach higher laurels.

"As Alumni, we have the unique privilege of being the bridge between the past, the present and the future, of which our participation in our educational Institutions brings a wealth of experience from all sector of the economy as well as making donations in cash and kind, such as the provision of infrastructure and stocking of libraries with relevant books/equipment to these institutions," she added.

Mrs. Arday-Kotei emphasized the need for Alumni Associations to collectively facilitate or to intervene to ensure the development and progress in the educational sector.
