Mr. Bernard Mornah, People’s National Convention’s (PNC) National Chairman-elect, on Saturday said the party is more potent to unseat the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2016 general election.
He said if NDC had any doubt that it was the turn of the PNC, it should check the level of poverty that was confronting the people of Ghana.
“It should also check that over the past six to seven years, the Upper West Regional Hospital it started to construct in Wa had not yet reached the lintel level,” Mr. Mornah said.
He pointed out these failures on the part of government at a delegates’ congress of the PNC, to elect national executives and a presidential candidate in Wa on Saturday.
Mr Monah said Ghanaians were frustrated by bad and vulgar politics and would vote the PNC to power in 2016, saying the 2016 budget is an IMF and World Bank budget that had imposed more hardships than blessings on the people.
He, however, said the PNC had refused to talk about the New Patriotic Party at its congress because a “house divided among itself, would not stand the test of time”.
Mr Mornah promised to work hard for his party to win 10 parliamentary seats in the Upper West Region. He said he would tap the ideas and experiences of members of the party to make it more vibrant and attractive to the electorate in 2016.
Dr. Edward Mahama, flagbearer-elect, cautioned Ghanaians not to gamble with their votes for gifts from political parties, but “to elect vitalised and visionary leaders to champion the course of rebuilding a prosperous nation”.
He said the PNC during his leadership, suggested a lot of pro-poor policies, such as the National Health Insurance, School Feeding Programme, among others, some of which had been implemented by both the NDC and NPP for the benefit of the people.
The PNC presidential candidate said the party would soon propose policies and programmes to address unemployment among the youth, as well as the energy crisis which had impacted negatively on the economy.
