NDC Must Be Worried Over Amenfi West By-election Results - Kwamena Duncan

Kwamena Duncan says per the results of the Amenfi West constituency by-elections on Tuesday, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is the best shot for Ghanaians in next year's general polls.

According to him, the votes garnered by the NPP Parliamentary candidate for the constituency Paul Derkyi are a clear but subtle indicator of the party's victory in the 2016 elections.

He was of a strong view that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has lost its strength against the NPP and will surely been shown the exit from power.

If we were the ruling party, we would be so much worried. It’s very worrying. Upon your claims about what you’ve done and your giveaways; as many as 10000 of your voters the last time round did not turn up to vote for you. It’s a headache to the NDC," he stated.

Contributing to Peace FM's flagship morning show "Kokrokoo", Kwamena Duncan juxtaposed the votes polled by the NPP Parliamentary candidate with the polls by the ruling party's candidate, saying the close margin in the by-election speak volumes of the NPP's fortunes next year.

We can see the base is very solid. The Ghanaian people are ready and prepared to effect that change (in the 2016 elections)," he added.

The NDC candidate Eric Afful emerged winner of the Amenfi West by-election with 15,809 votes while his close contester Paul Derkyi polled 13,076.
