AMERI Power Deal Is Purely A Business Transaction With Gov't - Ade Coker

Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Ade Coker says the $510 million power deal between Ghana and AMERI Energy group is purely a business transaction.

Contributing to Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Ade Coker insisted that the Government of Ghana should not be faulted in the report by a Norwegian newspaper that Umar Farooq Zahoor, the Pakistani Norwegian man who witnessed the AMERI power deal is an alleged criminal.

According to him, the government entered into a contract to purchase the gas turbines to boost the energy sector and end the perennial power cuts in the country.

This is purely a business transaction," he stated.

Also addressing the issue, the Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party Nana Akomea called for a thorough investigation to be conducted into the AMERI deal.

Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi, Nana Akomea took the claims and explanations given by government to exonerate itself from any dubious act in the deal with AMERI Energy group with a pinch of salt.

He said the Mahama administration has been sole-sourcing contracts and this is why an individual (referring to Umar Farooq Zahoor) could allegedly dupe the country.
