The Volta Regional Sports Council has commenced preparations towards its maiden Regional Sports Festival scheduled for October this year. Committees have been put in place to among other things seek sponsorship for the event, which is expected to attract participation of sportsmen and women across the Region. Mr Gabriel Yao Missodey, Regional Sports Development Officer, who was speaking at an orientation and sensitization workshop for Municipal and District Sports Development Officers at Ho the regional capital urged the participants to use the various Keep-Fit Clubs to promote community participation in sports. The Festival is also to promote the development of sports in the Region from the grassroots. The Regional Sports Development Officer also urged them to introduce and develop interest in the lesser known sports. Mr Missodey was optimistic that the Festival would be a historic one which would enhance the Region�s Sports Strategic Plan 2008-2012. He appealed to individuals and corporate entities to support the event to make it a success.
