Government disburses feeding grants to caterers

The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) would on Tuesday December 22, pay the outstanding arrears owned caterers.

It would be recalled, that the GSFP about a couples of months ago disbursed money to cover 64 days of feeding remittances to the caterers in consistence with efforts to ensure frequent release of funds to pay caterers on the programme to enhance quality delivery and sustainability.

Alhaj Siiba Alfa Public Relations Officer, GSFP in a statement issued in Accra and copied to the Ghana News Agency said as part of reforms introduced into the programme by the Ministry of Gender Children and Social Protection, feeding remittances to caterers are transmitted electronically.

“The essence of this is to ensure value for money, curb delays associated with previous modes of payment and also inject transparency and accountability in the programme’s financial system,” it added.

The statement said the electronic disbursement of monies to caterers that started at the last payment would be used in the current and subsequent payment and assured stakeholders that the challenges encountered during the last payment are being addressed.

The GSFP advised all caterers who might encounter any challenges during the upcoming payment to report their challenges to the appropriate quarters for redress.
