#NDCDecides: Low Turnout In Ablakwas Constituency (Photos)

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary primaries in the North Tongu Constituency of the Volta Region is moving on smoothly. Turn out at some centers including that of the district capital at Bator has been low.

At Mepe Presby JHS out of 179 voters 51 had cast their ballot as of 11:41.

Some polling officers expressed disappointment at the number of voters turning up to cast their ballot.

A few of the electorates explained that the timing of the election was wrong with the reason being that some churches have organised conventions and as such a lot of members were out of town.

Other voters stated that controversies surrounding the election had reduced the hype that characterised the primaries.

Three people are contesting in the primaries. They are Messrs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, incumbent MP; Aple Bennette and Mr Charles Hodogbey.

The North Tongu Parliamentary Primaries was postponed following a court injunction placed on it by an Accra High Court.

One of the aspirants, Mr. Christopher Kofi Eleblu filed a suit challenging his disqualification by the party’s National Petition Review Committee.

But an Accra High Court on Tuesday dismissed the case paving the way for the primaries to be held on Sunday December 20.
