Charge Dzifa Attivor For Causing Financial Loss To The State Atik Tells Mahama

PNC General Secretary, Atik Mohammed wants former Transport Minister, Dzifa Aku Attivor charged for causing financial loss to the state.

He has called on President John Dramani Mahama to issue directives to the Attorney General to prosecute the former Minister.

Mrs Attivor left her post as Transport Minister over the GHc3.6 million controversial Metro Mass Rapid Transit (MMRT) bus branding scandal.

"Hon Mrs Dzifa Attivor, Minister of Transport wishes to inform the good people of Ghana that, as the Minister with oversight responsibility for the activities of the Metro Mass Rapid Transit (MMRT), she has tendered in her resignation as Minister due to the current issues surrounding the branding of the 116 buses,” the resignation letter signed by her personal assistant read.

The Attorney General, Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong has been tasked by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah to recover from Smartty’s Management Limited – the company which undertook the rebranding of the 116 Metro Mass buses – a total of Ȼ1.9 million.

But while Dzifa Attivor has been praised by a section of the public for resigning, Atik believes she has failed the state.

"She can’t just resign, she must be charged with causing financial loss to the state…we should not just let her go but rather charge her because she has defied the laws of the state…,” he said on Adom FM

Adding that - “In the Western nations, the fact that you resigned does not mean the end of the saga, she must be investigated as well and charged.
