I Had Wanted To Kill The Robbers Taxi Driver Reveals

The taxi driver whose brave effort led to the arrest of two daylight robbers said he was moved by the “Holy Spirit” to chase the robbers after an earlier thought to ignore them after their act.

Nana Yaw said just before leaving home to start a low patronage Saturday work – he prayed with all his five children and warned them to put up a ‘good behaviour’ – “But something moved me to pray again when I was behind the steering wheel.”

According him, en route Cantonment, [a suburb of Accra] – he heard a double loud noise of a gunshot but his curiousness led him to the direction of the sound.

Approaching the place, he was told by another diver about the robbery scene – “Then I asked the driver about the victim, he pointed to me and I saw the two robbers on their bike, initially I was a bit scared because they were armed.”

“…But something moved me after they had sped off. I followed them, when they [robbers] noticed that, they turned to my direction and started shooting at me. What came in mind was that ‘I will kill these guys’. So I drove on a top speed to them and knocked them into a gutter,” he said.

He however narrated on NEAT FM’s morning show Ghana Montie how the robbers threatened to kill him at a gunpoint - “They came out from the gutter and picked their pistol and came to me. One pointed the gun at me and said ‘I will shoot you’, then I said ‘shoot me’.”

“…he pulled a trigger but fortunately he missed the target. I punched him to the ground before onlookers came to my rescue. I didn’t know where I got the braveness from to tell an armed robber to shoot me. That was from God,” he noted.
