Takoradi Polytechnic Ready For Conversion To Technical University � Rector

The Rector of Takoradi Polytechnic, Prof. John Frank Eshun, has assured government of the institution's preparedness to justify its inclusion as one of the first polytechnics to be converted into technical universities in September this year.

Speaking at the school's 15th congregation ceremony, Prof. Eshun said the upgrade will reposition the school to become a strategic academic institution which can contribute to economic growth by producing highly-skilled human resource.

He encouraged graduands to develop theirs reputations through hard work, integrity and diligence.

The Minister of Education, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, in a speech read on her behalf, said plans are far advanced to convert selected polytechnics into technical universities which are expected to produce graduands with high-level skills needed to drive the country's economic development agenda.

She said the technical universities will also provide  progressional avenues for technical and vocational students.

In all, 3,256 graduands were awarded with Higher National Diploma (HND), and Bachelor of Technology degrees.
