Gitmo Ex Detainees Transfer Complete Disrespect To Ghanaians...Very "Insulting" - Kwamena Duncan

Central Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP),Kwamena Duncan says the approach adopted by the Government of Ghana on the issue of the Gitmo ex detainees transfer is a complete affront to Ghanaians.

According to him, President John Mahama and the Foreign Affairs Minister, Hanna Tetteh have insulted the nation by refusing to consult with stakeholders in the country on the issue.

He stated on Kokrokoo on Peace FM that the decision by the government to accept the detainees was "done out of complete disrespect for the Ghanaian people."

As if to add salt to the injury of Ghanaians, the Foreign Affairs "(Hanna Tetteh) said that Ghana is running an Executive Presidency and that is very [very] insulting...very insulting. That Ghana is running an Executive Presidency, so the President is not bound to stand on the streets and engage in consultations with some people. Just as the President said that when I said consultation, I did not mean that consultation with Pastors," Kwamena Duncan quoted on Kokrokoo.

He wondered why the Mahama administration would disregard the involvement of major stakeholders like the Clergy in resolving the Gitmo impasse.
