I Don't Wish Greenstreet's CPP Success - Sammy Awuku

Sammy Awuku has congratulated the Convention People's Party (CPP) Presidential candidate-elect Ivor Greenstreet for winning the votes of the delegates during the party's national congress on Saturday.

Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Sammy Awuku wished the CPP luck in this year's general elections.

According to him, this year's election will see adept candidates running for the Presidential seat with Mr. Greenstreet vying on the ticket of the CPP, Edward Mahama for the People's National Convention (PNC), Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and President John Dramani Mahama contesting for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The NPP National Youth Organizer welcomed Mr. Greenstreet into the race but however stated emphatically that he doesn't hope for the CPP to succeed in the election.

He told Chairman General Kwami Sefa Kayi on 'Kokrokoo' that though the CPP now has the opportunity to revive the party; he cannot see the party candidate in the lead during the November 7 elections this year.

“I don’t wish the CPP success in this year’s election. I wish them luck. Because if I wish them success, I wish them to the detriment of my party and candidate winning but I wish them luck in this contest . . . They maybe have a unique opportunity to revive the party.”

He also advised the CPP to stop over-relying on the Nkrumahist ideologies to run the party.

To him, Mr. Greenstreet and the CPP should initiate their own political ideologies and strategies without strict adherence to the Nkrumahist policies for the party.
