Kwadwo Asamoah To Resume Training Next Week

The Ghana and Juventus midfielder will make an injury return earlier than expected, according to coach Allegri.

Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah could return from injury earlier than expected, his coach Massimiliano Allegri has confirmed.

The 27-year-old Ghana international suffered a thigh injury in his side’s 3-0 win over Inter Milan in a Coppa Italia fixture on January 27, with medical reports suggesting up to three weeks of layoff.

However, addressing the media on Wednesday, Allegri said Asamoah could join the squad for training on Monday.

“Asamoah is pretty good and should train on Monday, Stefano Sturaro perhaps on Sunday” Allegri said.

“Giorgio Chiellini has only an adductor strain and I wanted to give him more rest, while Mario Mandzukic and Sami Khedira will still take a while – perhaps for Napoli.”

Asamoah has been in and out of action after undergoing surgical operation to correct a troublesome knee problem in November 2014.

He has so far made four league appearances this season.

Meanwhile, the Ghanaian has been named in Juventus’ 23-man squad for the 2015-16 Uefa Champions League knock-out stage, having been earlier snubbed for the group phase over fitness concerns.
