Gov't Should Stop The Excessive Taxation On Ghanaians - Atik Mohammed

Atik Mohammed, General Secretary of the People's National Convention (PNC), has called on President John Dramani Mahama to resolve the petroleum price increments in the country.

Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Atik Mohammed slammed the current administration for failing to reduce the skyrocketing petroleum prices that have become the bane of Ghanaians.

To him, the government is mismanaging the economy and as a result Ghanaians are suffering from the bad governance system of the government.

“President Mahama and his administration have failed in managing the economy so that at every point, they’re looking for opportunities to squeeze every tax possible from the Ghanaian. So, even though petroleum prices on the international market are reducing, only in Ghana are they saying we should pay more to get petroleum products. At the end of the day, I will buy petroleum products to do my business. This is elementary economics. When your cost of production goes up, it inspires a higher price. And it’s not the producers who suffer the price, it is the consumers.

“We need the President and his administration to concentrate on these things and find a way to stop this excessive taxation that they put on Ghanaians," he said.
