Freddie Blay Refuses To Show Up In Court!

The New Patriotic Party(NPP) and Mr. Freddie Blay today did not show up at the High Court (Human Rights Division) in Accra when the case involving them and the elected National Chairman of the party, Mr. Paul A. Afoko, was called. Their lawyer, Godfred Dame, also did not appear.

Messrs Osafo Buabeng and Martin Kpebu represented Mr. Afoko.

When the matter was called, the judge, His Lordship Anthony Yeboah, stated that the Court had received a letter from lawyers for the Defendants, who were also not in court, to the effect that he was attending a Court of Appeal session at Koforidua. The normal practice, however, is that the Defendants should also have been in court. Why they were not in court was not explained.

The court said it had received a letter from lawyers from the Defendants but it did not suggest any date for the matter to be adjourned

Counsel for Mr. Afoko, however, told the court that his counterpart on the other side had called to inform him of his inability to be in court and had suggested that the matter is adjourned to the 22/2/2016.

Lawyer Osafo Buabeng, however, did not agree with the suggested 22/2/2016 but had it adjourned to Tuesday, 16/2/2016 for the Application for Directions to be taken.

The Court ordered hearing notice to be issued and served on the lawyers for the Defendants
