The 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has emphasised his readiness to bring a positive change in the life of every Ghanaian when voted president.
He has therefore appealed to Ghanaians, especially Christians, to pray for him and also join hands with him and the NPP to effect the change in this year’s general elections.
Nana Addo made the appeal when he attended a number of churches in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis on Sunday as part of his four-day visit to the Western Region.
Some churches visited included the Dunwell Methodist, the Anglican, Great Pentecostal Assemblies of God and the Church of Pentecost – all in the Effia constituency – as well as Bethel Methodist Church and the Presbyterian Church in Takoradi.
Accompanied by the Acting National Chairman of the NPP, Freddie Blay; the National Women Organiser, Otiko Afisa Djaba; Members of Parliament (MPs) and other party bigwigs in the region, the NPP flagbearer was given rousing ovations by the congregations as he made his way into the churches’ auditoriums.
At the Dunwell Methodist Church, Nana Addo was mobbed not only by the congregation, but also kids of the children’s service, to the extent that a little girl walked straight to the NPP leader and engaged him in a conversation to the admiration of all present.
Nana Akufo-Addo, clad in full white attire and with cheers from the teeming congregation, asked the worshippers to give him the chance to turn things around.
He stated, “I am calling on the Christian community to pray to God to grant me the strength, wisdom and good heart and above all, I need your thumbs. Vote for me this time round.” His remarks were greeted with loud applause from the members of the churches he visited.
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo also called on the Christian community to pray for violence-free elections on November 7, 2016.
