Mr Ivor Greenstreet, the Presidential candidate of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) has said the party had to be re-organised to position it to win political power in this year’s general election.
He said this in Tamale at the weekend when he met some CPP constituency executives in the Northern Region to thank them for voting for him during the party’s recent presidential primary, held in Sunyani.
Mr Greenstreet was accompanied by Professor Edmund Delle, the National Chairman of the CPP, with other national executives.
Mr Greenstreet pledged to work with all the structures of the CPP to resource the party to undertake effective campaigns to enhance its electoral fortunes.
He acknowledged that there were challenges within the party but promised to work to address the concerns of party members to ensure a united front towards fighting for political power.
Prof Delle urged the members of the CPP to unite behind the Presidential candidate, saying, “He is the right man chosen at the right time to save the CPP and the country”.
He said: “All the problems of the party must end now to make the party a formidable force in the country.”
He said the CPP had targeted to win at least 10 parliamentary seats in the Northern Region in this year’s parliamentary election.
Mr Greenstreet, accompanied by some party executives, later joined Muslims to observe Friday prayers at the Central Mosque in Tamale to thank Allah for his victory in the primary.
