Close ranks for 2016 victory - Greenstreet to CPP

The newly elected presidential candidate of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Mr Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, has appealed to the rank and file of the party to close their ranks and help the party to win the next elections.

He said after trying both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to no avail, the time had come for the CPP to take its rightful place in the governance of the country.
“Ghana needs an alternative government, a government of sincerity and honesty”, he said.

Addressing the media during his “Thank You Tour” in the Ashanti Region, Mr Greenstreet said Ghanaians were not happy with what they were seeing in their leaders and were calling for a change and “this is the change that we are offering.

“We come with clean hands, we come to speak the truth, we come to offer solutions to the problems facing the people of Ghana” he said, and added, “and I shall not disappoint you.”

According to him, the CPP believed in all Ghanaians, adding, “the CPP does not believe in taking opportunity or development or hope to one area of Ghana. We all have equal opportunity to the wealth of this nation.”

He said there was so much apathy from the ruling class to the needs of the people and this was creating a sense of despondency among the people.
“And it is this hope that the CPP government is coming to restore,” he said.

In the party’s quest to achieve this, he said, the CPP would soon launch its manifesto dubbed the ‘People’s Manifesto’ which would be based on the interactions between the party and the people.
He thus called on the party faithful to remain united and rally behind the party to achieve this.

“We are on our knees before you, Ghana needs an alternative government, Ghana needs a change and we are pleading with you to embark on this journey with us” he pleaded.

The National Chairman of the CPP, Dr Edmund Delle, also re-echoed the call for unity of purpose to enable the party to reclaim its rightful place in the governance of the country.

“What has happened is a hurricane, we are in a train with our flag bearer and there is going to be a change, the way the country needs that change and that chance can only come with Greenstreet,” he said.

He said a CPP government would not dictate to the people but would design policies that would suit the needs of the people.
He said the CPP would run a clean campaign devoid of insults or character assassination but a “campaign of peace and ideas that would save the country.”
