Steering Committee Will Not Make Us Win Election - George Lawson

Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Lawson says the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is throwing dust in the eyes of the public with false information that the EC is working to retain the Mahama government in the November 7 polls.

According to him, the Electoral Commission does nothing for the NDC as far as elections are concerned; thus they have been doing their own work so that victory can be assured in the November 7 elections.

“The good people of this country will vote for us based on our good works, based on what we have done and what we are doing. It is not the EC which will thumb print the ballot papers and help us to win. If we win the elections, it is by our strength,” he jabbed.

Speaking on the allegation that the EC’s Steering Committee is flooded with NDC members, the Deputy Chief Scribe on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show insisted the NDC has nothing to do with the Steering Committee.

He stressed that the NDC was not aware of the means by which the 18 members were nominated to serve on the Steering Committee, reiterating that the hullabaloo is much ado about nothing.

He also alleged that there are equally known NPP members representing institutions to serve on the EC’s taskforce.

“That committee will not make NDC win election; we are poised for victory and it is not the Steering Committee,” he added.

He however stated categorically that he was against his Deputy Director of International Relations, Dr. Mark Arhin accepting nomination to serve on that committee.

“I am personally against it, I have been saying it was an unwise decision that he took. It was very wrong,” he chided.
