Church Must Not Be Afraid To Publicly Articulate Views On Issues

Apostle Joseph Amoah, Eastern Regional first Vice Chairman of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, (GPCC), has called on the church to be bold to publicly articulate its views and position on important national issues.

He said it should refuse to be intimidated and that “its voice must be heard loudly” on every matter related to the moral health of the society and the general wellbeing of the people.

He was speaking at an induction service held for newly elected officers of the Aburi branch of the GPCC at Aburi.

They include the Rev Johnson Oboe, Chairman, the Rev Ernest Acquah, Vice Chairman, the Rev Seth Amoakohene, Secretary, and six others.

Apostle Amoah described as deeply troubling the shift towards personal comfort and self-gratification and said the church could not fail in its responsibility of bringing hope and salvation to the people.

The clergy should return to the preaching of the true gospel to purge the society of social evils, cruelty and crime.

Nana Otubuo Gyan Kwasi II, the Aburihene, underlined the need for understanding and stronger cooperation between the church and traditional rulers to promote development in the communities.

They should combine their efforts to unite the people - help them to smooth over their differences.

Nana Gyan Kwasi, used the occasion to remind voters to avoid the mistake of allowing any politician to influence them with money or gifts to vote against their conscience.

They should carefully examine the manifesto of the political parties and vote in those who are competent to lead the nation.

He asked the people to demand responsible conduct by politicians and pray for peaceful polls on November 7.
