Student, 2 Others Arrested For Gang Raping Girl, 14

The Jomoro District Police Command in the Western Region have arrest a student and two other unemployed young men for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old ice-water seller.

The three, Alexander Sam, alias Efpac; 23, unemployed, Joseph Buah also known as Miky; 27, unemployed and Godwin Bessah, alias Ayisem; 23, a student of Half Assini Secondary School, met the victim at about 11:30pm at Roman Junction, a suburb of Half Assini, when she was returning home.

According to the police, the three were allegedly smoking substances suspected to be marihuana prior to the act.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic, the Jomoro District Police Commander, Superintendent of Police John Dzineku said the three got the attention of the victim when one of the suspects, Bessah, who knew her, called her to engage her in a conversation.

According to him, while the victim was comfortable chatting with Bessah, the other two were planning how to grab her to the planned location to execute their plan.

SP Dzineku said the three finally dragged her to an uncompleted building at the Anglican JSS and spread their shirts on the floor, stripped her naked, held her legs and hands apart and defiled her one after the other.

He said after the act, the victim began feeling dizzy and Bessah sensing danger escorted her close to her house and left her.

According to him, the victim who was then in pain, reported her ordeal to her grandmother, who also reported the issue to the Police.

SP Dzineku said the victim was then rushed to the Half Assini Government Hospital where she was admitted and was discharged the following day, but was shortly rushed back due to what the victim describe as severe abdominal pain.

The District Commander said all three suspects were currently in custody.

He noted that Bessah admitted he was the first to have sex with the victim whilst the rest denied and said they held the victim and only inserted their fingers but did not have sex with her.
