Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. John Kofi Kudalor, has indicated his outfit’s commitment and readiness to expand the visibility policing concept to more municipalities and towns in order to provide adequate security to Ghanaians.

Currently, according to Mr. Kudalor, his outfit has extended visibility policing to Techiman, Dormaa Ahenkro, Kintampo, Nkoranza and Dodowa, Hohoe, Keta, Sogakope, Sefwi Wiaso, Bibiani, Akropong, Oda, Donkokrom, Swedru, Elmina, Assin Fosu and many others.

Addressing police officers at an annual get-together party known as West Africa Security Service Association (WASSA) celebration in Accra, Mr. Kudalor said the move has led to the reduction in crime and elimination of the fear of crime among Ghanaians.

He said in the area of maintenance of law and order, the police were called to duty in many conflict areas including Bimbila, Bunkpurugu, Kwapong, Tuobodom, Agogo, Nkonya-Alavanyo, Capecoast, and Bawku.

“These disputes mainly chieftaincy, land and communal were decisively and successfully quelled, thereby bringing law and order to the people of the affected communities,” he added.

He mentioned that one area of policing which has gained currency with the advancement in democracy was management of mass action, comprising demonstrations, processions, picketing, and strikes.

He commended the swift response by the police in the provision of protection for participants, members of the public and private and public property and installations.

Mr. Kudalor acknowledged the remarkable achievements of the police in deploying formed police unit personnel to South Sudan on United Nation Mission.

He stressed that he was proud the Police Service won instant popular acclaim and admiration of the international community causing the UN to place an order for one hundred (100) more FPU personnel from Ghana.

He again applauded the modest achievements made by the police in 2015 and even attributed it to a number of factors including implementation of very effective crime prevention measures, crime combat and law enforcement strategies, committed and motivational workforce, and solid government support.
