East Dadekotopon Trust Appeals To CDS Over Military Land Guards

The Chairman of the East Dadekotopon Development Trust (EDDT), Emmanuel Odoi, Yemo, has bemoaned the use of armed uniform men (Soldiers) as guards by some encroachers for protection whilst they put up illegal structures on the Trust’s property.

In an Interview with Mr. Odoi Yemo, who was visibly disappointed with the conduct of the military men, he made a passionate appeal to the Chief of Defense Staff, Air Vice Marshall Michael Samson-Oje to call his men who were parading as land guards and providing shield for the encroachers to build on the stolen lands to desist from that act of lawlessness.

He said, “We have sighted armed Military Police men stationed on portions of our lands with the land guards to protect developers who have stealthily apportioned to themselves parts of our lands and are building as quickly as they can with the assistance of these Military Police officers.”

This nefarious practice is going on behind the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre (GITFC) and right towards the back of the Burma Camp in the full glare of the general public but those building sites are not for the army and it’s therefore surprising to see armed soldiers protecting the site whilst the encroachers build, he continued.

Mr. Odoi Yemo made specific mention of Col. Apenkwa, in charge of lands and logistics, Ghana Army and Col. Alayingo as the main actors and the rest as: Sgt Amoah Larbi,  of the Military Police, General  Fiawoo, Bismark Anyomi(a.k.a ranger),  Samuel Ofolikwei, Captain Quaye, an employee of the Burma Camp Military Police and Col. Sadongo, a retired military officer.

Whilst the Chairman of the EDDT appealed to the CDS to call his men to order he also ceased the opportunity to warn the general public to stay away from the said parcel of land.
