GIBA To Meet GJA Over "Awful" Handling of Sardine Journalists

President of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association [GIBA], Kwesi Agyemang has said his outfit is expected to hold a crunch meeting with the Ghana Journalists Association [GJA] over what he described as “awful” handling of journalists during Ghana’s 59th independence parade last Sunday.

According to him, the two associations will question the right authorities in government as to why journalists are being maltreated in recent times.

He recalled how journalists from Graphics and Times were ‘beaten’ during a similar gathering some years back.

“We [GIBA] will hold a meeting with GJA on this sad issue. We want to ask and find solutions to why journalists are being maltreated in recent times. We must find solutions from these unfortunate happenings from state protocol and the flagstaff house,” he said in an interview on Peace FM’s morning show 'Kokrokoo'.

This comes after journalists accredited to cover the 59th Independence Day celebration were packed in a white tipper truck to take photos and videos.

Pictures of the unfortunate incident went viral with some of the journalists showing an angry gesture but still hopped on the truck to execute their duty for their respective media houses.
