Ghana @59: We Can Boast Of Countrys Peace . . . This Alone Is Worth Cherishing - CCG

General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, Rev Dr Kwabena Opuni Frimpong has warned all institutions responsible for national cohesion ahead of the November 7 polls not to do things which will bring disappointment and prepare the grounds to disrupt the peace the country is blessed with.

According to him, Ghana can be proud for its peaceful nature after the independence but added though that the peace of the country unfortunately has not translated into the economic progress as there have been ups and downs in all the successive governments.

In our 59 years, we have had ups and downs in our quest to develop our nation but if you put all things together, our country is peaceful and this alone is worthy of cherishing and thank God and also congratulate each other but we must agree that we have a lot to do for the future prospects and our generation,” he charged.

Speaking on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show on the need to maintain the peace of the country, Rev Dr Opuni Frimpong implored Ghanaians to take a collective responsibility towards peace and national development as it is not one person’s duty as well as a particular political party to develop the country.

He maintained that the peace of the country falls on everyone including children, women, men and foreigners residing in the country who have roles to play to ensure the peaceful atmosphere; stressing that no particular ethnic group and political party can be exempted in the strive to make Ghana better as everybody is important.

In view of this, Rev Opuni urged the EC, the police, NMC, NCA, paramount chiefs, Peace Council, Military, Clergy and the media which form the institutions for the national cohesion to be up in their activities to ensure peace during, before and after the November 7 polls.
