Pupils Of�St. Joseph School In Tamale Learning In �Ovens� Not Classrooms - Teachers Cry

Pupils of the St. Joseph School Complex in Tamale have over the years received their education under trees and �deathtrap� wooden structure.

The school which has a population of about 200 pupils and few professional teachers is among the deplorable educational facilities in the metropolis serving various communities.

First impression of the school depicts a pen � with no indication of it being a school building. This has compelled pupils to study under trees on daily basis with four pupils sharing a double desk.

The students have also whined that � during raining season the wooden structure that serves as shed for them leaks badly.

However, Peacefmonline.com checks indicates that, some parents have withdrawn their wards from the school due to its deplorable state.

A teacher who only gave her name as Ajara calls on government to come to their rescue in an interview with Peace FM�s Akyereba Kwabena.

�The classrooms will not be called a room but oven, this is because the heat in that structure do not promote teaching and learning. Wee smokers have taken over the school but we cannot do anything because they end up been the northern watch dog of the school. This school also serves as a night market for the community,� she said.�

�We are calling on government to come to our aid,� she added.�
