Kofi B 'Drowns' Producer

The various music chart shows have the song Afia Donkor by Kofi B lying on the second spot and the song and album were produced by ABS Total Entertainment owned by Mr Samuel Owusu-Ansah and it was highly anticipated that the success of the album would see artiste and producer popping champagne but instead, the two are popping accusations and counter-accusations of cheat, greed and malice. Kofi B said to have signed a contract with ABS in 2008 where the artiste sold the rights of the album sale in Ghana and Europe to the producer for a period of three years for GHC30,000 (300 million old Cedis).ABS Entertainment also saw to the production of most of the songs on the album and financed the Afia Donkor music video directed by Okyeame Quophis Emklan. The producer also spearheaded the promotion of the album on radio and TV with the strong conviction that the album would be a best-seller. After months of promotion and marketing, the album got rave reviews and ABS looked to promote and sell the album abroad but to their surprise, they got information that Kofi B had already sold the foreign rights of the same album to another producer in UK called French Kiss for 4,000 Pounds Sterling. Management of ABS contacted French Kiss who confirmed that indeed, Kofi had sold to him the rights to sell the album abroad and this development put a strain in the relationship between Kofi B and ABS. Kofi B denied selling the rights of the same album to the two producers. Kofi B reported his producer to the BNI section in Kumasi with the charge that, Mr Samuel Owusu-Ansah, his producer had defrauded him and that the producer had sole his (Kofi B) CDs and misappropriated the money. Mr Owusu-Ansah was held for questioning by the BNI for weeks but the top official who presided over the case eventually deemed the case as trivial and dismissed it. According to the producer, due to the frustrations and humiliations Kofi B put him through in the hands of BNI, he decided to hand over the all the materials including CDs and the CD covers to Kofi B to sell and pocket the revenue. He also said that, Kofi B and his close relation threatened his life several times. He said that he went through a lot producing the album for Kofi B, risking his life and business, traveling across the globe to produce a good album for the artiste, spending over GHC6000(600million old cedis) on the Afia Donkor album. When Weekly Fylla tried reaching Kofi B, sources close to him disclosed that he is presently in the USA, but the source close to the artiste claimed that according to Kofi B, he paid Mr Samuel Owusu-Ansah and collected the CDs to market himself and therefore, he does not owe ABS Total Entertainment.
