Fulani Herdsmen Must Leave With Their Cows Now Chief of Abetifi

About 50 armed Soldiers have been deployed to Kwahu Afram Plains in the Eastern Region to flash out all Fulani herdsmen in the region by the close of this month.

This was due to a petition the Eastern Regional Security Council sent to government to help them flash out all cattle in their district as they keep destroying farm lands.

Acting President of the Kwahu Traditional Council and Chief of Abetifi, Nana Asiedu Agyeman in an interview with Peace FM news explained their decision taken “Yes we want them to move because they have mingled with the farmers on their lands and always destroying their cultivated crops, making their work on the farm very difficult to do.”

According to him, the herdsmen find it difficult to control the animals they look after.

“One Fulani herdsman can control over thousand cows, due to this abnormal ratio formed by owners of the cattle, they can within some few minutes destroy farm produce of farmers when they have access to the farming zones.”

He angrily lamented that “We cannot contain them anymore because the herdsmen themselves are so violent to the extent that when you sometimes want to put them on track by showing them the right thing to do they would just speak to the cows to attack you. This proceed has put fear into most residents which to me would not serve the region any good.”
