Zoomlion Ghana Limited has presented 20 trucks and waste containers to 20 municipal and district assemblies in the Eastern region to facilitate effective waste management which would help boost sanitation in the respective communities.

The presentation forms part of an agreement with the Waste Management giant and the local governance system in the Eastern Region in the area of acceptable practices in environmental sanitation.

Mr Daniel Amartey, the operations Officer of Zoomlion Ghana, who presented the equipment meant to replace old and worn-out ones said the gesture comes timely at the onset of the rains to help manage waste and prevent flooding, associated disasters and epidemics.

He appealed to the recipients to place the refuse containers on hard surfaces (concrete slabs) to prolong their lifespan.

Ms Mavis Ama Frimpong, the Eastern Regional Minister, who received the items on behalf of the assemblies, thanked Zoomlion for fulfilling its side of the contract with the assemblies and assured that the equipment would be put to good use.

She however appealed to Zoomlion to improve the working conditions and salaries of the field workers of the company especially those who swept and cleaned the communities to ensure effective and committed work out put.
