PPP Will Halt Roaming Cattle Practice

Presidential hopeful of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP,) Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, has indicated his willingness to halt the practice where cattle and livestock roam on the streets of Ghana freely, should he be given the opportunity to govern this country.

“We (the PPP) will halt this roaming cattle and other livestock practice,” the astute politician stated.

The celebrated entrepreneur made these remarks on his Facebook wall Tuesday in a post titled: “Agogo DCE Says What? Are We Safe?”

Dr. Nduom, who could not come to terms with a call on residents of Agogo by the District Chief Executive of Agogo, Paul Kingsley Averu, to arm themselves in defense against alleged brutalities by nomadic herdsmen [Fulani herdsmen], wondered why citizens pay taxes if they were not going to be protected by the state.

He wondered why leaders are even elected in the first place if not to solve problems of the electorate.

“The question is, what do we pay taxes for? And why do we elect people to manage the affairs of our country? What sort of chaos will we visit on ourselves if we all decided to buy arms to protect our families?” he queried.

He lamented the killing of at least four persons – three nomadic herdsmen and a local resident last week alone at Agogo in the Asante Akim North district and charged that persons who own the cattle should put up ranches and feed their animals there.
