An alleged attempt by an activist of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ellembelle Constituency of the Western Region to outwit his lawful wife by secretly marrying another woman last Saturday, has backfired.
Kwesi Hanson, 32, member of the communication team of the NDC, purportedly decided to tie the nuptial knot with another lover last Saturday without the consent of his legitimate wife, Faustina Hanson, from the Ashanti Region.
According to sources, while the marriage ceremony was underway at a chief’s palace in Axim, the wife and another woman at Axim, who also claimed the NDC communicator had married her, angrily stormed the palace and disrupted the ceremony.
The two women, according to a reliable source, took the action after getting hint that Kwesi Hanson was getting married to another woman without their consent.
Daily Guide learnt that the action by the two women caused serious embarrassment to the Ellembelle NDC communicator, his extended family, friends and loved one who had gathered to witness the ceremony.
Narrating how the commotion started, an eyewitness told this paper that as if the organisers knew what would happen, they had brought some security personnel to man the entrance of the venue for the programme and to ensure total security.
Sources had it that when the two women got to the entrance, the security men tried to prevent them from entering the palace.
However, the women and their few relatives who accompanied them forced their way in, causing damage to the iron gates of the palace in the process.
. The ceremony was therefore brought to an abrupt end and some police personnel were called in to help restore law and order at the place.
Speaking to journalists, Mrs Faustina Hanson, 30, a physician assistant at the Presbyterian Hospital at Agogo in the Ashanti Region, stated that her husband teaches at Esiama in the Western Region and also works at the GNAT office at Nkroful in the Ellembelle district.
She indicated that she got wedded to Mr Hanson in August 2011 and has two children with him – a boy, 4 and a girl, 2.
According to her, in 2014 the husband got married to another lady, Grace Quarshie, also a nurse at Axim without her consent.
“But the issue only came to my notice in 2015, and it is still being resolved by the two families,” she revealed.
Mrs Hanson stated, “Just last Saturday, someone alerted me of another secret marriage between my husband and another lady, one Esthela Amihere, at Axim, so I quickly went to DOVVSU to secure an order to stop the ceremony.”
The 32-year-old communicator has subsequently been summoned to the regional DOVVSU headquarters in Sekondi to answer some charges brought against him by the wife.
