Dont Politicize Abudu-Andani Feud For Votes - Tamale Chief

The Chief of Tamale is advocating the rejection of politicians who will attempt to use the Dagbon chieftaincy stalemate as a campaign tool to win power on November 7.

Naa Dakpema Alhassan Dawuni regretted the trend where some politicians in previous elections gained political capital out of the impasse between the Abudu and Andani royals in Dagbon.

The revered Tamale Chief, who is noted for championing peace and development in the Tamale Metropolis, raised this concern in a Citi News interview.

Naa Dakpema Alhassan Dawuni condemned political infiltration into the Dagbon chieftaincy feud, and emphasized the need for the electorate in Dagbon to reject self-seeking politicians who might as usual attempt to use the Dagbon chieftaincy deadlock to canvass for more votes.

He called for peaceful co-existence in Dagbon before, during and after the November polls. Naa Dakpema Dawuni Alhassan further challenged duty bearers and in Dagbon to invest their resources in educating the youth to reduce the rate of illiteracy. “We are all the same; we are one people.

We should see each other as one people and we don’t have to fight over chieftaincy and others. We have to always do everything in common, that is my goal and to do that at least we have to educate them: education is only what we need for people to understand one another and know that they are the same.

Those who think they can take up the chieftaincy affairs to make money we are going to disappoint them because they will never get the chance. As for me my goal is to see to it that we are all one people.

” In a related development, Muslim clerics in the Northern Region have called for the disbanding of all political vigilante groups ahead of the elections. Spokesperson for the Northern Muslim Clerics at a news conference in Tamale, appealed to the youth saying,  “We also appeal to the youth of the political parties not to allow themselves to be used to foment trouble either within or outside their parties.”
