Happy FM Threatens To Sue Bishop Obinim

Over the past few weeks, the General Overseer of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Obinim and a Kumasi-based fetish priest, ?komfo? Yaw Appiah have been in the news about the latter’s claims that he is the source of spiritual power for Obinim.

As you may know, both men had agreed on countless occasions on Happy 98.9FM to agree to what some of you have called a ‘showdown’. Before the latest aborted one, Obinim had, as always gone on his usual tirade but this time directed at one of the presenters of Happy 98.9FM, Nyansa Boakwa – host of Ns?m Pii.

Obinim on April 8, 2016 categorically stated that he had infested Nyansa Boakwa with HIV. He went on to claim that he has rendered Nyansa, who is a father of XX, impotent. He again added that the Ns?m Pii host will go blind and finally dragged his daughter into his rants.

Much as the Happy 98.9FM family and its millions of listeners will want to let all this slide as part of the gimmicks we have come to associate with Obinim, it has become imperative that we express our utmost disgust at such unsubstantiated claims that have the potential to not only defame but to unduly drag into ridicule, the image and integrity of our presenter and his family.

Indeed throughout this whole Obinim/?komfo? Yaw Appiah saga, we have been absolutely professional and conducted this religious story which has far-reaching social and cultural consequences without bias, malice and with absolute fairness to all involved.

Happy FM has no squabbles with Obinim but as a media house that prides itself in being professional, we will not let any member of the society trample upon our integrity.

Obinim has also alleged that a certain pastor has bribed Nyansa Boakwa to orchestrate a plan to ‘disgrace’ him (Obinim). This allegation is unfounded and we challenge him to disclose whom this pastor is, and what the nature of the bribe is.

We are speaking with our lawyers and considering legal action against Obinim if he fails to apologize and retract the statements and also continues to malign the station and its personalities in his utterances.

We at Happy FM will continue to push for the truth and execute our mandate as a professional, fair and objective media house with the ultimate responsibility of helping grow a society we can all be proud of. Thank You.
