Pratt Quizzes: If An Ordinary Joe Like Me Can Speak On EC Logo, Why Can't Prez Mahama?

Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt has hit back at critics of President John Dramani Mahama's recent comments on the new EC logo.

Amidst criticisms from all angles of the political divide relating to the new logo, President John Mahama, addressing the issues urged stakeholders and Ghanaians to refrain from debating on the logo.

President John Mahama called on the nation not to abuse the EC Boss.

The President has since come under attacks following his remarks on the Electoral Commission.

But speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, Kwesi Pratt wondered why President Mahama as any Ghanaian cannot speak on the EC logo.

According to him, the President has the right not to be gagged on commenting on the issue.

Though Mr. Pratt expressed disagreement with the President remarks, he however wondered why the President cannot say debates on the logo issue are unnecessary; and thus called for a cease fire.

“I don’t agree with the President on the logo issue. I don’t agree with the President at all. But the fact that I don’t side with him doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a right to speak. If an ordinary Joe like me, I can say I don’t like the logo and so call for a change; why can’t the President say debate on the logo is not necessary? Why? If I have the right to speak about the logo; why not the Head of State? Why not the opposition leader…”

Expressing sentiments on the EC logo, Kwesi Pratt said he does not see the need for a new logo for the Commission and asked the relevance of the logo in the conduct of the 2016 elections.
