Our Cousins, Sisters In Togo Have The Right To Register NDC

The Volta Regional Youth Organizer of the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC), Egypt Kobla Kudoto says the National Democratic Congress is focused on the grounds to mobilize its people and hence will not be distracted by Press Confrerences organized by the Volta regional Chair of the opposition New Patriotic Party, John Peter Amewu.

Kudoto denied claims by the NPP that government is diverting state resources to neighboring Togo in exchange for votes in the November polls.

John Peter Amewu at a Press conference in Ho said the NPP will resist any attempt by government to have foreigners register in the exercise, accusing the governing NDC of constructing roads and extending electricity project to some communities in Togo, as well as  transporting farming equipment to Togo to entice residents to register in the ongoing  limited voters’ registration exercise.

But Kudoto in an interview with Citi FM has challenged Mr. Peter Amewu and the NPP to substantiate its claims, saying such allegations are mere falsehood targeted at destroying the efforts of the NDC ahead of the elections.

“There is no project that the Ghana government is constructing in Togo. I’m not sure the protocols of ECOWAS will permit that. It’s not done, it’s not possible. All the issues that he is raising don’t hold water,” he added.

However, he said what the party has sought to do is to encourage the people to spread the message to their relations to come back home and have their names captured on the electoral roll.

“We don’t have Togolese coming to register in Ghana. We have our people, brothers and sisters, cousins and relations who reside in Togo and therefore the time has come for them to come home and have their names in the register of Ghana because they are Ghanaians based in Togo.”
