Bukom Banku Begs Rawlings To Support Mahama + Says Wife Inspired Him To Bleach

Popular boxer and entertainer Braimah Kamoko has pleaded with former President Jerry John Rawlings to support President John Mahama’s bid to retain power in the November elections.

Bukom Banku's call follows reports that the relationship between the founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the sitting president is estranged.

Already the former President’s wife, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings is expected to contest against President Mahama after she left the party to form the National Democratic Party (NDP).

But Bukom Banku believes the Rawlingses cannot make any impact in resisting the President's bid for a final term in office.

“They can’t form any party”, he poured water on NDP’s chances.

The entertaining boxer was having a chat with JOYNEWS’ Francis Abban on the current affairs program, Pulse. Bukom Banku described the Rawlingses as grandparents of the nation who should invest their energies in helping the sitting president.

Outdooring a new song in support of President Mahama's campaign, Bukom Banku was emphatic that, “President Mahama cannot lose this election”.

Assessing the chances of the main opposition leader, Bukom Banku conferred the same status of statesmanship on Nana Akufo-Addo and said he stands no chance against the sitting President.

“Akufo-Addo is a big man for the nation, but…” the crowd favourite placed a limit on the NPP’s potential for a return to power.

Nonetheless, he said he has a lot of respect for Akufo-Addo and many in the NPP. He said he cannot descend into insulting NPP because it is a party of big men.

It was the then Accra Mayor Adjiri Blankson who helped him get his first visa, Banku said adding this good deed is unforgettable.

In the light-hearted 45-minute interview, the boxer spent time explained his severe bleaching.

"I don’t like the black again, second-term" he said and reiterated his belief that President Mahama will make him Ghana's Ambassador to Germany if second term in office.

Bukom Banku wants to follow in the footsteps of famed but late music icon, Michael Jackson who also underwent serious complexion changes.

The once dark skin of Bukom Banku has been banished into pockets of dark spots around his knee area and ankles.

Turning fairer and fairer, the popular boxer wants Ghanaians to shut up about his new found love for bleaching.

It was inspired by his wife, he said.
