Channel 'O' Announces Performers For Award Show

Channel O has revealed a star-studded lineup of African stars to perform at the upcoming Channel O Music Video Awards. South African crossover music juggernaut, HHP, leads the homegrown charge, proving why hes up for two Channel O Music Video Awards: his track Mpitse has put HHP in the running for Most Gifted Male Video while All I Need is up for Most Gifted Hip-Hop Video. Nigerian superstar, 2Face is also set to ignite the stage on Thursday 29 October. Undoubtedly one of Africas biggest names, 2Face has earned a 2009 Channel O Music Video Award nomination for Most Gifted R&B Video for his song with Sound Sultan, Enter the Place. Also representing Nigeria is critically acclaimed, socially conscious singer-songwriter Nneka who is nominated for Most Gifted Female and Most Gifted Newcomer for her song Heartbeat. Another Most Gifted Female nominee will also be performing live on the night: Lizha James from Mozambique will bring her Ragga-influenced sound to the awards, cementing a very successful year that has seen her song Estilo Xakhale also nominated for Most Gifted Southern African Video. A highlight of the night is set to be a live performance of All Around Africa the song that was specially created for the winner of this years Emcee Africa II Cybil Nyte. It sees the prodigiously talented Nyte performing with African hip-hop royalty in the form of Naeto C (Nigeria), Nazizi (Kenya), Zeus (Botswana), HHP (SA) and Proverb (SA) and this first ever live performance of the sizzling hot track is bound to get the audience on its feet. A high-profile mystery guest is also in the line-up but fans will have to wait until October 29th to see just who this is. The 2009 Channel O Music Video Awards will be hosted by Nonhle, Lungile and KB who will no doubt add significantly to whats already shaping up to be the music event of the year. The awards take place at Carnival City in Gauteng on Thursday 29 October. Winners in the 2009 Channel O Music Video Awards are chosen by the public who will be able to make their voices heard via SMS or online or through their mobile phones.
