Medeama through to CAF Confereration Cup group stage

Reigning Ghana FA Cup Champions Medeama SC are through to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup competition after defeating Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 (3-3 aggregate) on Wednesday afternoon at the Essipon Park.

Medeama, who are Ghana’s last team standing in CAF Club competitions this season, qualified on the away goal rule after they overturned the 3-1 defeat they suffered in the first leg tie played in South Africa a fortnight ago.

Midfielder Malik Akowuah converted a 35th penalty to put Medeama into the lead in the first half before Bennett Ofori scored the much needed second goal in the 65th minute to see the “Yellow and Mauves” through to the next stage of the competition.

Medeama will now know their opponents for the group stage of the competition when CAF conducts the group stage draw later this month.
