As the November 2016 elections nudge up, a reelection surety that President Mahama enjoys due to a sterling performance in office is under attack in Tema, Enquirer has been told.
Courtesy what complainants say is a systematic perpetration of rascality and highhandedness by members of a taskforce belonging to the Tema Development Corporation (TDC), sentiments towards President Mahama among the inhabitants of Tema are degrading.
Consequently, the highly resourceful President Mahama is unduly being made the fall guy for acts of rascality and cruelty that members of the TDC taskforce in Tema are allegedly meting out to poor residents.
According to Edgar Nii Adjety Badu, the TDC taskforce’s rascality includes wantonly demolishing structures belonging to residents of Tema and using their authority to demand bribes as a way of escape from the demolitions.
Himself a victim, Mr. Badu, who is the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s branch Chairman, for Casino Down tells the Enquirer that activities of the taskforce have engendered a looming public violence in Tema.
“For instance, I was somewhere in Community One a few weeks ago when my sister called and alerted me that my building at Site 19 at Community One was about to be demolished by TDC taskforce members who had suddenly appeared at the site.
He adds that he had to leave whatever he was doing and rush to the place to physically prevent the taskforce from pulling down his property with the help of other irate youth of Site 19.
While the taskforce is fond of pasting demolition notices on completed structures, he says, members of the same taskforce have also made it a habit of demanding bribes from inhabitants as condition for escaping demolitions.
