Komenda Sugar Factory Is Still Operational . . . It Hasn't Been Closed Down - NDC Communicator

NDC Communicator, Bernard Anim Piesie has discounted claims that the Komenda Sugar Factory has been shut down.

The Komenda Sugar Factory set up by Ghana's First President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, was re-commissioned by President John Dramani Mahama on Monday May 30 to commence operations.

The factory is expected to create over 7000 jobs for Ghanaians and help to increase exports.

But just two days after the President commissioned the factory, reports indicate that it has been closed once again.

Following the reports, several people particularly the opposition New Patriotic Party has lambasted the President and his government for apparently doing a shoddy work.

Speaking on Peace FM's 'kokrokoo', Bernard Anim Piesie dispelled what he believes is complete falsehood perpetrated by the detractors of the Mahama government.

According to him, the Komenda Sugar Factory has not been shut down for any purpose.

He insistently stated that the factory is functioning and the workers doing a good job in the factory to ensure that the country becomes an exporter of sugar and other related commodities that the factory produces.

When asked whether it has indeed been closed for construction works to go on in the factory, Bernard Anim Piesie told sit-in host Nana Yaw Kesse that "it's never true that they have shut down Komenda Sugar Factory…The truth is the factory is still operational."

Meanwhile, Peace FM’s Central Regional Correspondent reporting from the premises of the Komenda Sugar Factory disclosed in an interview that the Factory has indeed stopped production.

Our reporter noted that the factory is undergoing construction and for that matter, all machines in the factory have been shut down.
